More than half of China 's 30,000 kinds of high-grade plants can be found in Yunnan . The Magnolia is one of the most widely found flowers in Yunnan . The Yap Nan flower of the wild-peony family can also be found. Ginkgo, bald China fur, wild banana and different species of Bamboos and various species of rhododendrons and Daphne is found in the province of Yunnan .

The survey identified 28 plant families as the main elements of Yunnan 's forest types. 26 families include mainly tree species, 2 families (Palmae and Gramineae) include palms and bamboo. Various kinds of orchids, Azalea, Chrysanthemum, Camellia, Lotus   and Narcissus are found in Yunnan . The existence of all such varieties of flowers is the reason why Yunnan has been dubbed as the "kingdom of plants".
