Introduction |
The Batura Glacier is sixty Five kilometers long and is the second longest glacier after Siachen. Most of the trek is an easy leisurely walk along the Batura Glacier strolling through flowers and green patches. The only difficult part to do is the crossing of the glacier. But the trekking is a rewarding one. |

Islamabad - Chilas |
Depart from Islamabad and reach Besham. The journey takes you across the famous towns of Abbottabad and Mansehra. From here follow the upstream course of River Indus, where you can see the picturesque Shatial rocks with ancient graffiti's on it. After a long day aboard, you arrive at Chilas, where you can get any hotel for an overnight halt. |

Chilas - Gulmit |
At Chilas there is a Nanga Parbat viewpoint offering breathtaking views. The next stop will be at the unique point where three mountain ranges, Karakoram, Himalayas and Hindu Kush meet, near the confluence of Indus and Gilgit Rivers . You need to walk across Gilgit Town and continue our drive on KKH. En route, you cross several villages of Hunza & Nagar valleys and make a photo stop at Rakaposhi view point. Driving past Karimabad, you go straight to Gulmit, a quite and serene village in upper Hunza region where you can halt overnight. |

Gulmit - Excursion Khunjerab Pass |
You can make an excursion to the Sino-Pak border at Khunjerab, crossing the villages of Passu and Sost en route. Khunjerab is the highest point on KKH at 4734 meters and considered as the highest trade route in the world. You will have enough time to return to Gulmit in the evening. |

Gulmit - Borit Lake - Passughar |
You need to take a major four wheel drive Borit Lake to start trekking and cross a dry ridge of Passu Glacier to arrive at Passughar. |

Passughar - Luzdhar |
To cross the Passu glacier it is advisable to have an experienced guide and arrive at Luzdhar across the glacier which is a deserted shepherd settlement and pastures. |

Luzdhar - Patundas |
After a steep but moderate grade climb, we cross the ridge between Passu and Batura glaciers. A trek leads to the base camp of Passu Peak from here. We arrive at Patundas for overnight stay in tents. |

Patundas - Mulunghil |
It is a rather steep descent to Mulunghil on Batura Glacier; however the scenery en route is superb and rewarding which absolutely compensates the hardships of the route. |

Mulunghil - Yashprit |
From here you will have to cross the Batura glacier and this walk is quite a demanding one. Later you reach Yashprit which means a pasture of horses. Yashprit offers spectacular views of Batura Glacier lying down the valley. Camp overnight here. |

Yashprit - Kukhil |
Following the shepherd's trail, you reach at Putmahal or Fatimahil. Later you can proceed to Kukhil, a small summer settlement with a few huts of shepherds.

Kukhil - Guchisham |
Guchisham, the last summer settlement of Batura Glacier has several shepherds' huts. A walk to lateral moraine to find superb views of Batura and Passu massifs is rewarding. At Guchisham, you enjoy the beauty of surrounding peaks. An optional walk to Lupdor through flower filled path is recommended. |

From Guchisham you will arrive at Putmahal where you can stay overnight. |

Putmahal - Yunzbin |
Crossing Yokprit you can trek to Yunzbin. It is a green and cool place before descending to KKH. From KKH you can easily get a transpost to take you to Karimabad, the capital of Hunza Valley . Ultar, Hunza Dome, Bublimating, Spantik and Diran are famous peaks surrounds us at Karimabad, while Rakaposhi at 7788m dominates the whole panorama. At Karimabad, we visit Baltit Fort Museum and Altit Fort. |

Karimabad - Gilgit - Besham |
Drive back to Gilgit and then to Besham where you can get a vehicle back to Islamabad . |
