CROSS KHARKHIRAA PASS , TO LAKE CAMP |
Climb steeply up 400m to the pass (9610ft/2930m) then cross the high open plateau, which will be rewarded by views of several glaciers and high peaks. The ground may be quite boggy and the going tough. It is extremely remote and wild up here. You camp beside a beautiful turquoise lake beneath the glacier of Deglee Tsagaan mountain.

CROSS THE YAMATIIN PASS (9656ft/2944m) |
Take a lift on the horses to cross the icy river, then climb up and across another expanse of wilderness to reach the base of Yamatiin Pass. You camp beside the Yamatiin River near the snow capped Yamatiin Mountain .

|
YAMATIIN VALLEY |
Cross the river and trek down the valley, enclosed on both sides by high cliffs with unusual rock formations. "Yamaa" means "goat", and there are likely to be sightings of herds of wild goats (ibex) in the rocks. The camp will be set up further down the valley beside the pinewoods in a field of edelweiss.

|
|
TREK TO KHOTGOR |
Hike through meadows and pine trees above the river bed. After days of walking in complete wilderness, you may start to meet nomadic families who have set up their homes here. The landscape becomes much drier and open with desert vegetation. Camping overnight near the Kazakh mining town of Khotgor will be better.
